Fact #87: Steve King LOLs at raising taxes
It was all a joke, that’s how Congressman King is reacting to fallout from a Ft. Dodge Messenger article this week saying he was “thinking about introducing a bill, which if it became law, would repeal everything Obama has signed into law.” Questioned about the plan yesterday in Des Moines, King defended his remarks saying, “To quote Herman Cain, ‘Get a sense of humor!’”
Unfortunately, while Congressman King is trying his hand at stand up, middle class families want action. They want a member of Congress who doesn’t this it’s funny to talk about about raising their taxes, defunding veterans’ programs, or killing the renewable energy industry. They want someone who will consistently be on their side.
While Congressman King tries to pass this off as a joke, he still hasn’t explained his decades of support for the Fair Tax, a national 23 percent sales tax on everything you buy that raises taxes on the middle class while giving the rich a huge tax break. He also hasn’t explained why he believes seniors should pay more out-of-pocket for health care. Are these jokes, too? Iowans can only hope.
